Addressing the high demands of semiconductor production lines for real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and big data integration, RDI Technologies™ officially launched IRIS Edge™ at SEMICON 2026, a comprehensive upgrade of optical vibration analysis technology combined with an Internet of Things (IoT) architecture, marking a new milestone in non-contact equipment monitoring and data application.
IRIS Edge™ is an optical vibration analysis solution that uses high-resolution industrial cameras and proprietary Motion Amplification® technology to transform equipment motion into visual images, while accurately measuring displacement data generated by millions of pixels. Unlike traditional deployments requiring contact sensors, IRIS Edge™ only requires the installation of a camera to comprehensively monitor all assets within its field of view without interrupting equipment operation, significantly reducing the barriers to entry and operational disruptions.
In terms of system deployment, IRIS Edge™ adopts a PoE (Power over Ethernet) single-cable design, transmitting both power and data simultaneously, making installation faster and simpler. With pan-tilt and autofocus capabilities, users can remotely adjust the monitoring angle and focus to flexibly meet the needs of different equipment and environments. Furthermore, the system supports cellular connectivity, further enhancing deployment flexibility, making it particularly suitable for large factories or environments where cabling is difficult.
The biggest highlight of IRIS Edge™ lies in its powerful data integration capabilities. The system can automatically transmit vibration data to existing enterprise platforms via the MQTT protocol, including AI/ML analytics systems, SCADA, historical databases, or data lakes, enabling cross-system integration and intelligent decision-making. Users can also view data in real-time through dashboards for trend analysis, monitoring, and anomaly alerts.
In terms of analysis functions, IRIS Edge™ supports time waveform, spectrum, and trajectory analysis, and can simultaneously set an unlimited number of measurement areas (ROIs) on a single screen. All data is captured synchronously, significantly improving analysis efficiency and accuracy. The system has built-in multiple triggering mechanisms, including waveform peak-to-peak, spectrum band, and optical triggering. When an anomaly occurs, it can automatically send notifications and simultaneously generate Motion Amplification® images for remote viewing.
In addition, IRIS Edge™ offers advanced image and data processing capabilities, such as frequency filtering (high-pass, low-pass, band-pass, band-stop), motion maps, transient motion magnification, and path tracking, enabling precise targeting of specific frequencies and dynamic behaviors to help engineers quickly identify the root cause of problems. Image stabilization and automatic maximum frequency identification further enhance analysis quality and ease of operation.
In terms of hardware specifications, IRIS Edge™ is equipped with a high-resolution CMOS sensor, supporting a maximum sampling rate of 1,300 fps (at reduced resolution), and a frequency analysis range of up to 650 Hz (39,000 CPM). The system has an IP51 industrial protection rating and complies with the IEEE 802.3bt PoE++ standard, ensuring stable operation in harsh industrial environments.
IRIS Edge™ also offers high scalability, allowing enterprises to gradually add device nodes as needed to build a complete vibration monitoring network, enabling long-term trend analysis and asset health management. Leveraging the advantages of non-contact measurement and unlimited data points, enterprises can significantly improve the coverage and accuracy of their reliability programs.
In an era where smart manufacturing and data-driven decision-making are becoming mainstream, IRIS Edge™ is not only a vibration analysis tool but also a key platform connecting equipment, data, and decision-making. At this exhibition, RDI Technologies™ showcased how innovative optical technology combined with IoT architecture helps the semiconductor industry comprehensively improve equipment monitoring capabilities and operational efficiency, moving towards a truly smart factory.
