In-Sight 1740 Wafer ID Reader
Category: Industrial Automation
Exhibitor: COGNEX TAIWAN, INC.
Booth No: J902
Characteristic
The In-Sight 1740 series wafer ID reader can automatically identify wafers with high reliability, significantly reducing the need for manual intervention and avoiding tool equipment idle time.
Wafers have laser-marked ID numbers placed in a small area of the silicon disks. These codes are alphanumeric characters or DataMatrix codes used to track wafers through front-end processes until they are diced. During various masking, etching, and photolithography processes, the wafer ID may degrade, becoming difficult to decode due to the wafer's reflective background.
Cognex's wafer readers use powerful algorithms specifically developed for wafer identification, providing optical character recognition (OCR) and 2D barcode reading before wafer dicing. These wafer readers use integrated flexible illumination to enhance image formation for reading alphanumeric and SEMI T7 DataMatrix codes, regardless of the marking method. The In-Sight 1740 can read damaged codes, minimizing no-reads and machine assistance while maximizing machine uptime.
